Missing Person Photos

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

She has a tattoo of a lotus flower with Chinese letters in blue and red ink on her back and a small birthmark on her chin. Her ears are double-pierced and she has had her wisdom teeth surgically extracted.
Details of Disappearance Miliani was last seen at approximately 12:00 p.m. at the Ramada Inn hotel in the vicinity of the 100 block of Painttown Road in Cherokee, North Carolina. She is from Miami, Florida and was vacationing in North Carolina at the time.Miliani spoke of plans to hike the Appalachian Trail. She called her father from the hotel that day and told him she was going hiking. She sighted in Bryson City, North Carolina, the day of her disappearance; she rented a storage space at Ye Olde Mini Storage on River Street. Miliani has not been seen since.Miliani had a large light beige suit with a broken handle, a matching carry-on bag, a laptop computer, a sleeping bag, a camera, a cellular phone and some other personal items with her when she was last seen; none of these have been recovered. She has not withdrawn any money from her bank account since she went missing, although some funds were deposited there on December 31.In June 2009, a private investigator working on Miliani's issued a sketch of a man who was seen with her before she vanished. The sketch is posted with this summary.A store clerk who read about Miliani's disappearance in the newspaper on the two-year anniversary stated she sold a backpack to Miliani and an unidentified man about 60 years old, with gray hair at his temples. He may have been wearing a hairpiece. He said he was a traveling preacher. The clerk said Miliani appeared to be nervous during the transaction.Gary Michael Hilton is a possible suspect in Miliani's disappearance. He was a drifter who frequented forests and national park areas in the southeastern United States. He pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering a Georgia hiker, and he is a suspect in other murders. He resembles the sketch, but it hasn't been proven that he was involved in Miliani's disappearance.Miliani's remains unsolved and foul play is suspected. Both Florida and North Carolina police are investigating.
